University personally invites financially struggling student to campus for registration

A young woman's dream of attending Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) has become a reality, thanks to the university's direct intervention. Nurul Amira Abdul Hamid, 18, who had been accepted into the STEM Foundation Centre Program, faced the near loss of this opportunity due to her family's financial constraints and transportation issues.

When we received information that this student could not continue her studies due to family financial problems, we felt it was the university's responsibility to help.

Recognizing the student's difficulties, UMT's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohd Zamri Ibrahim, took the initiative to visit Nurul Amira at her home in Parit Jawa. This personal visit aimed to ensure the student would not miss out on her education solely because of financial or logistical hurdles.

"When we received information that this student could not continue her studies due to family financial problems, we felt it was the university's responsibility to help," Professor Mohd Zamri stated. He added, "Today we came in person to meet the family and bring Nurul Amira to campus so she can register and begin her studies without being burdened by financial and transportation problems."

Professor Mohd Zamri also provided financial assistance to Nurul Amira. He encouraged students facing financial difficulties not to postpone their educational aspirations, assuring them that UMT provides various aid schemes. "Just come to the university first. We will manage the financial aid through the various schemes available so that students can focus entirely on their studies," he said. UMT has assisted over 10 students with similar challenges this year, enabling them to continue their education.
