UNM Informatics Student Gains Real-World Skills Through Internship at LLDIKTI III

MHD Rizky, a seventh-semester Informatics student at Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM), is honing his professional skills through an internship program at LLDIKTI Region III. This practical experience is crucial for students preparing to enter the demanding job market.

Rizky is currently assigned to the Research and Community Service Division, specifically in Web Application Development. His motivation for joining the Internship Experience Program (IEP) stems from a desire to validate the skills acquired in his university studies, including web programming, database management, and system development, by applying them to real-world challenges beyond academic assignments.

His internship journey involved a rigorous selection process, including administrative checks, CV and portfolio reviews, transcript evaluation, and interviews. Rizky's portfolio, featuring projects like Volunteer Hub and Klinik Stunting, played a significant role in his successful selection. He credits the Nusa Mandiri Career Center (NCC) for its substantial support throughout the process, from program socialization and administrative assistance to placement with partner institutions like LLDIKTI Region III.

During the initial phase of his internship, Rizky has been immersing himself in the team's workflow, understanding the application development system, and adhering to the standards and procedures of a government environment. He notes that the challenges extend beyond technical aspects, encompassing the ability to adapt to a formal and structured work culture. His coursework in Web Programming, Database, Software Engineering, and Information System Security has been instrumental in his daily tasks, while also cultivating discipline, communication, coordination, meticulousness, and professionalism.

Muhammad Faisal, Head of NCC, views the IEP as a strategic initiative bridging academic competencies with professional demands. He emphasizes that students need tangible experience, adaptability, communication skills, and readiness for the professional world, not just theoretical knowledge. Rizky's experience at LLDIKTI Region III is expected to provide him with a fresh perspective on technology application and professionalism within a government setting, fostering greater confidence and competence.
