UNM Informatics Team Advances to International YESIST12 Grand Finale

A team of students from the Informatics program at Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM) has earned a spot in the international grand finale of the Youth Endeavors for Social Innovation using Sustainable Technologies (YESIST12) competition. The team, comprising Vickry Kamaluddin, Abudan, and Andika Dwi Kurniawan, will represent Indonesia on the global stage thanks to their AI-powered innovation, NutriScan AI. This mobile application is designed to rapidly deliver precise nutritional information about food products. NutriScan AI integrates computer vision and barcode scanning technology to offer users detailed nutritional data, aiming to promote healthier eating habits and contribute to Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being. The team's journey to the grand finale involved navigating a competitive national selection process, including administrative reviews, proposal evaluations, and a final presentation to a panel of academics and industry professionals. Dr. Ali Khumaidi, head of Nusamandiri AI Center and the team's mentor, praised the students' hard work and collaborative spirit, emphasizing that their success is a testament to their commitment to developing beneficial innovations. He added that this achievement motivates UNM to further refine NutriScan AI for international competition and underscores the quality and competitiveness of UNM students on a global scale.
