UPM Aims for Overall Championship at SUKIPT 2026

Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has set its sights on clinching the overall championship title at the upcoming Kejohanan Sukan Institusi Pendidikan Tinggi (SUKIPT) 2026.

The prestigious games are scheduled to take place from August 29 to September 6 at Universiti Malaya. To achieve their goal, UPM's athletes are tasked with securing a target of 40 gold medals. UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Ir. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah, emphasized that this target is backed by thorough preparation, consistent training, and significant sacrifices from both athletes and officials.

"Our target for this edition is very clear: to regain the overall championship title with a target of 40 gold medals," stated Prof. Ahmad Farhan during the UPM Contingent Flag Handover Ceremony for SUKIPT 2026. He expressed confidence that this achievement would be a result of the athletes' unwavering spirit and dedication.

The UPM contingent will participate in 32 different sports, including Aerodance, Badminton, Netball, Basketball, Volleyball, Chess, E-Sports, Golf, Hockey, Karate-Do, Kayak, Lawn Bowls, Archery, Athletics, Petanque, Table Tennis, Rugby 7s, Swimming, Sepak Takraw, Silat, Squash, Men's Softball, Taekwondo, Tennis, Shooting, Pickleball, Tenpin Bowling, and Handball. Athletes are reminded of their responsibility to represent not just their teams or faculties, but the entire university community.

Prof. Ahmad Farhan urged the athletes to compete with confidence and determination, giving their all until the final whistle. He also hopes SUKIPT 2026 will serve as a platform for UPM athletes to prove their capabilities and advance their careers, potentially representing Malaysia at higher-level competitions like the SEA Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and the Olympics. Maintaining discipline, sportsmanship, and the university's image are paramount throughout the championship.
