UPNM Hosts 18th Public University Innovation Convention, 22 Awards Presented

Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) recently hosted the 18th Public University Innovative and Creative Group (KIK) Convention, a three-day event that began on August 4. The convention showcased 22 awards across various innovation categories, highlighting the commitment of Malaysian higher education institutions to fostering a culture of innovation.

The event brought together 434 participants representing 53 innovation groups from public universities across the country. These groups competed in four main categories: Service Delivery Innovation (Creation), Service Delivery Innovation (Improvement), Social Innovation (Creation), and Social Innovation (Improvement). The focus was on developing and enhancing high-impact innovations.

The convention culminated in an awards and closing ceremony at UPNM's Sungai Besi campus. The event was graced by the Director-General of Higher Education, Datuk Professor Dr. Azlinda Azman, who presented the awards. A symbolic handover ceremony also took place, designating Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) as the host for the 19th KIK UA Convention in 2028.

Notable attendees included the Army Chief General Tan Sri Azhan Md Othman, UPNM Vice-Chancellor Lieutenant General Datuk Wira Arman Rumaizi Haji Ahmad, and other university officials and representatives from public universities nationwide. The convention underscored UPNM's dedication to embedding innovation within the national higher education landscape.
