Uruguay Confirms Father's Day 2026 Date

Father's Day in Uruguay for 2026 has been officially confirmed for Sunday, July 12. The National Chamber of Commerce and Services of Uruguay (Ccsuy) set the date, marking it as the third commercial holiday of the year. This celebration will occur on the second Sunday of July.

The upcoming Father's Day follows Grandparents' Day on June 19, which also coincides with the commemoration of Artigas's Birth.

The origin of Father's Day is attributed to Sonora Smart Dodd in Spokane, Washington, in 1909. She wanted to honor her father, a Civil War veteran who raised six children alone after their mother died during childbirth. The first celebration took place on June 19, 1910, Dodd's father's birthday. The holiday gained official recognition in 1966 and became a national holiday in 1972. As it gained popularity in the United States, it also spread globally, with various countries adopting either the same date or their own specific dates, like Uruguay.
