American artist Oliver Tree was tragically killed along with five others when two helicopters collided in mid-air over Rio de Janeiro on June 14. The aircraft crashed into a parking lot at an electric car dealership in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes neighborhood, sparking a large fire that engulfed at least 20 vehicles.

Oliver Tree, known for his hit songs "Life Goes On," "Miss You," and "When I'm Down," was in Brazil as part of a world tour. The artist was recognized for his distinctive image, sense of humor, and unconventional musical style, which blended pop, alternative music, and electronic elements. He had previously performed in Copenhagen in November 2022 and was scheduled to return in September.

All six occupants of both helicopters, including the pilots, perished in the accident. Initial reports indicate that the collision happened shortly after takeoff.
