US Embassy in Argentina celebrates 250th anniversary with President Milei

The United States Embassy in Argentina hosted a celebration for the 250th anniversary of American independence, with Argentine President Javier Milei attending as a distinguished guest.

Ambassador Peter Lamelas, serving as host, underscored the robust "alliance" between the two nations, describing Milei as a "great friend" of the former Trump administration. The event, held in anticipation of the July 4th holiday, brought together a notable gathering of Argentine officials, including cabinet members, judicial figures, business leaders, and journalists.

A video message from former President Donald Trump was presented, stating, "It is an honor to be friends." This sentiment, along with the overall atmosphere, highlighted the close ties between the current U.S. administration and Milei's government since he took office.

Attendees included key figures such as the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, advisor Santiago Caputo, and Minister of Justice Juan Bautista Mahiques. The celebration featured performances by tenors singing the national anthems and entertainer Fátima Florez, impersonating Liza Minnelli to sing "New York, New York."
