US firms look to Pakistan for critical mineral supplies

A U.S. Embassy official noted that the Trump administration has been actively focusing on critical mineral supply chains worldwide, with Pakistan being a key area of interest. The embassy is working through multilateral agencies and U.S. financial institutions like the DFC and Exim Bank to facilitate these ventures. The official encouraged Pakistan to ensure a level playing field for American businesses to foster greater participation. While the Reko Diq project is progressing, it is reportedly moving slower than anticipated, indicating potential hurdles in large-scale resource development. The U.S. government's strategy aims to diversify supply sources and reduce reliance on specific countries for essential minerals.
