US-Iran 'peace agreement' awaits Trump's approval, US media reports

A potential agreement to end the conflict between the United States and Iran is reportedly awaiting final approval from US President Donald Trump, according to reports from the US media outlet Axios. The two nations' negotiation teams have reached a consensus on a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that outlines terms for de-escalation.

The proposed 60-day MOU reportedly includes provisions ensuring unrestricted passage for vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, prohibiting Iran from imposing tolls, and requiring the removal of all mines in the strait within 30 days. Iran has also committed to not pursuing nuclear weapons. During the 60-day negotiation period, discussions will prioritize Iran's methods for processing highly enriched uranium and its enrichment timeline.
