US: July 4th celebrations canceled due to heatwave

The "American Celebration" on Washington D.C.'s National Mall, a focal point for the nation's 250th birthday festivities, had to temporarily close its doors early in the afternoon as temperatures soared to 38 degrees Celsius (100.4 degrees Fahrenheit). The oppressive heat turned the celebration area into a challenging environment for attendees.
