US Military Strikes Iran, Deploys 50,000 Troops and 24 Warships

The U.S. military has intensified its pressure on Iran with a recent 5-hour strike targeting military installations. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the completion of the latest operation, which focused on key sites in Bushire, Chabahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa, and Abbas ports. The strikes utilized precision-guided munitions against coastal defense systems, missile and drone bases, and maritime combat capabilities, aiming to degrade Iran's ability to attack commercial vessels.

CENTCOM revealed that more than 50,000 U.S. service members are currently deployed in the Middle East, maintaining a high state of readiness for potential combat operations. This significant troop presence underscores the ongoing strategic focus on the region.

Adding to the military posture, foreign media tracking U.S. naval movements has reported that 24 U.S. naval vessels are operating in waters surrounding Iran. This fleet includes two aircraft carriers, the USS Lincoln and USS Bush, along with an amphibious assault ship, the USS Boxer. Other deployments include numerous destroyers and the USS Princeton guided-missile cruiser, positioned to cover Iran's western and southern maritime approaches.

In addition to the air strikes, the U.S. military announced it would reinstate a blockade on maritime traffic entering and leaving Iranian ports starting July 14. The extent of this blockade, the frequency of strikes on Iranian coastal military facilities, and the potential for intercepting non-compliant vessels will be critical factors to watch as tensions in the Middle East continue to be a focal point.
