US reaches deal with Iran to reopen Strait of Hormuz

Trump declared the agreement complete and authorized the immediate lifting of the U.S. naval blockade, urging global shipping to resume. "Ships of the world, start your engines. Details of the agreement remain scarce, but Iranian media reports suggest it encompasses a cessation of aggression across the Middle East, particularly in Lebanon, and the withdrawal of U.S. forces from areas near Iran. The deal also reportedly includes provisions for Iran to control the Strait of Hormuz, compensation for damages from U.S.-Israel attacks, the release of frozen Iranian funds, and a framework for a nuclear agreement. Iranian state TV indicated that Iran "forced" the U.S. to accept its peace terms. Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who served as a mediator, confirmed the agreement, calling it a "PEACE ACCORD." He stated that both sides have agreed to an immediate and permanent halt to military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon. A formal signing ceremony is scheduled for Friday, June 19, in Switzerland.
