US resumes Iran port blockade, Trump threatens attacks on power plants

The U.S. military has intensified its actions against Iran, launching a significant strike on military targets and reinstating a naval blockade. CENTCOM reported a seven-hour operation targeting dozens of sites near the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's coast, stating the goal was to curb Iran's capacity to threaten commercial shipping. This action follows Iran's alleged attacks on seven civilian vessels in the region.

Adding to the pressure, the U.S. has reimposed a blockade on Iranian ports, a measure previously in place from April to June. Over 20 U.S. warships and hundreds of aircraft are reportedly involved in this operation, aimed at further restricting Iran's maritime threats. CENTCOM stated that Iran has attacked seven commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz within a week, also firing numerous missiles and drones toward neighboring Gulf states.

President Donald Trump has escalated rhetoric, warning of further U.S. military action if Iran does not agree to terms. In an interview with Fox News, Trump threatened to target Iranian power plants and bridges if diplomatic negotiations falter, though he indicated these would be last resorts. He mentioned that talks are ongoing and that Iran desires a deal, but expressed skepticism about Iran's adherence to agreements. Trump suggested that U.S. attacks would intensify until Tehran makes concessions, stating, "If they don't, they will have nothing left."
