US soldier killed in Iraq during drone ordnance detonation

The United States military has reported the death of another soldier in Iraq, who was killed during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian drone. The incident took place on July 18 in northern Iraq, according to a statement from US Central Command (CENTCOM). A second service member sustained minor injuries during the detonation.

This fatality marks the 17th US service member to die since the commencement of the US-Israel war on Iran on February 28. The announcement follows two other US service member deaths in Iranian strikes in Jordan on Friday, with a third service member still missing. Unidentified remains were discovered at the Jordan site and are undergoing identification.
