Earlier, U.S. forces reportedly repelled a larger Iranian assault aimed at targets in Kuwait and the island nation of Bahrain, both of which host significant U.S. military installations. Iranian state media quoted the Revolutionary Guards, stating they had attacked the headquarters of the U.S. 5th Fleet and an airbase in the region with missiles and drones. The Guards also claimed to have fired missiles at a vessel named 'Panaya,' warning that endangering security in the Strait of Hormuz would come at a high cost to the U.S. military.

According to the Revolutionary Guards, these actions were a response to recent U.S. strikes against an Iranian communication tower near Qeshm Island and an Iranian tanker near the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. military confirmed it had attacked an Iranian military facility on Qeshm in response to Iranian missile attacks. CENTCOM stated that all ballistic missiles fired by Iran toward Kuwait and Bahrain missed their targets, with some disintegrating in mid-air and others being intercepted by U.S. and Bahraini forces.
