US to begin naval blockade of Iran on Tuesday at 23:00

The United States military is set to enforce a naval blockade of Iran, commencing July 14 at 23:00 Greece time. The measure, announced by the Joint Maritime Information Center, will encompass all Iranian ports and coastlines, affecting vessels regardless of their flag.

However, the blockade will permit "neutral passage" through the Strait of Hormuz for ships bound for or departing from non-Iranian destinations. Additionally, vessels carrying humanitarian aid will be allowed passage, provided they undergo necessary inspections. This clarification aims to mitigate concerns about unrestricted maritime traffic in the vital waterway.

The Strait of Hormuz is OPEN and will REMAIN OPEN, with or without Iran. We are REINSTATING the IRANIAN BLOCKADE, as it is called because it only stops Iran’s ships or their customers’ ships from entering or exiting. All other countries will have fair and free use of the Strait.

The announcement follows President Donald Trump's declaration that the U.S. is reinstating the naval blockade. Trump specified that the measure targets Iranian vessels and their commercial partners, while ensuring free navigation for all other countries. He asserted that the United States would be known as "THE GUARDIAN OF THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ."

In a statement on Truth Social, Trump detailed that the U.S. would receive 20% of the cargo value as compensation for the costs associated with providing security and protection in the volatile region. He indicated that the process and organization for this initiative would begin immediately.
