US urges citizens in Middle East to be ready to leave amid escalation fears

The U.S. government has issued a strong advisory for its citizens across the Middle East, urging them to remain alert and ready to depart should tensions in the region escalate further. The State Department warned that U.S. diplomatic facilities globally have faced threats, and Iran or groups supporting it might target other U.S. interests or Americans abroad.

Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise caution and heightened vigilance and should be prepared for flight cancellations, periodic airspace closures, and potential travel disruptions.

This alert coincides with U.S. media reports suggesting President Donald Trump is considering new strikes against Iran over the weekend. The advisory specifically mentioned the possibility of "unexpected escalation" and advised Americans in the region to exercise caution and heightened vigilance. It also warned of potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions.

Americans in the region should consider departing, or be prepared to depart should there be escalation.

U.S. embassies in several Middle Eastern countries, including Bahrain, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, have reposted the security alert. The alert advises Americans outside the Middle East to reconsider travel to and through the region.
