Uttarakhand Approves Over ₹62 Crore for Development, Kumbh Mela Prep, and Scholarships

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has sanctioned over 62 crore rupees (approximately $7.4 million USD) for a range of development initiatives, preparations for the 2027 Kumbh Mela, and welfare programs, including scholarships for the children of ex-servicemen.

The approved funds will bolster infrastructure across several districts. Key projects include the construction of an 8 MLD sewage treatment plant in Dehradun, costing ₹6.62 crore. Additionally, ₹41.37 crore has been allocated for 21 NABARD-funded development schemes. Preparations for the 2027 Kumbh Mela will receive ₹5.46 crore for essential infrastructure like barricading and temporary fire watch towers, with another ₹6.85 crore designated for temporary night shelters.

Temple development projects also received significant funding. The Sukeshwar Mahadev Temple in Almora district will get ₹1.24 crore for restoration work. The Maa Mangla Bhagwati Mata Temple complex in Seraghat will receive ₹72.83 lakh for a dharamshala. In Pithoragarh district, ₹22 lakh is allocated for beautification and construction at Budheshwar Temple, while ₹25 lakh will fund improvements at Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Park and a pond in Udham Singh Nagar district.

Beyond infrastructure, the Chief Minister approved the "Thana Diwas" and "Ratri Chaupal" programs in Vibrant Villages. These initiatives aim to strengthen police-public interaction and address law and order concerns directly. Furthermore, ₹36.84 lakh has been allocated from the Kargil Shaheed Parivar Chief Minister Assistance Fund to provide scholarships for children of ex-servicemen pursuing higher education in engineering, medical, and PhD courses.
