Uttarakhand cop who joined CJP protest dismissed over 'serious misconduct'

A police constable in Pithoragarh has been dismissed from his post following a departmental inquiry that found him guilty of "serious misconduct." The constable, Sher Singh, had joined a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi organized by the Cockroach Janata Party. Officials stated that his actions violated the Uttarakhand Police Act, 2007, and the Uttarakhand Government Servants Conduct Rules, 2002. Pithoragarh SP Akshay Prahlad Konde emphasized that the dismissal was necessary to uphold discipline within the police force and maintain public trust. The Uttarakhand Police maintains a zero-tolerance policy for indiscipline and misconduct. Singh had previously made headlines after announcing his resignation from the police force while at the protest site. He had also alleged irregularities in the Uttarakhand patwari exam paper. The police noted that Singh was already suspended for unauthorized absence and that an FIR was registered against him last year in a land-grabbing case.
