Uzbekistan Unveils Seven National Programs for Future Development

Uzbekistan is embarking on an ambitious path toward national revival with the announcement of seven comprehensive national programs set to guide the country's development in the coming years. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev unveiled these plans on August 28, coinciding with the nation's 35th independence anniversary celebration.

The seven programs will span crucial sectors including education, healthcare, the economy, environmental protection, the rule of law, the development of local neighborhoods (mahallas), and foreign policy.

In education, the focus is on transforming knowledge and skills into the nation's primary asset. Plans include achieving 100% enrollment for six-year-olds in preparatory classes, integrating international educational standards into vocational colleges, and aiming for at least one million young people to receive training in high-paying professions. The president emphasized that "in New Uzbekistan, not a single young man or woman will remain without a profession."

The healthcare program aims to enhance public health and increase life expectancy, with government health spending projected to reach 5% of GDP over the next five years. The strategy will prioritize preventive care and shift towards a health preservation model, with state health insurance intended to cover all households. Uzbekistan also plans to attract at least five leading global clinics to develop specialized medical services.

Economically, the nation is targeting a high-tech, high-productivity model. Over the next decade, Uzbekistan aims to attract $450 billion in foreign investment and grow its economy to $300 billion by 2030. The government plans to create 2 million high-income jobs, with priorities including startups, venture financing, and artificial intelligence. An ecosystem to support the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises is also a key objective.
