Vaibhav Sooryavanshi becomes youngest to score international fifty

Harare: Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi etched his name in cricket history on Thursday, becoming the youngest player to score an international fifty. The Indian prodigy achieved this remarkable feat at just 15 years and 118 days old during the first T20I against Zimbabwe in Harare.

Sooryavanshi's explosive half-century came off a mere 18 deliveries, a blistering pace that shattered previous records. He surpassed the milestone previously held by Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar, who was 16 years and 213 days old when he scored his maiden international fifty in a Test match against Pakistan in 1989. Shahid Afridi of Pakistan also features on the list, having reached his first international fifty at 16 years and 214 days.

This record-breaking knock was instrumental as India successfully chased down Zimbabwe's target of 125/7, securing a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series. Sooryavanshi's performance not only highlights his exceptional talent but also marks a significant moment in men's international cricket, with several other young players also achieving the feat before turning 16.
