Valjevo Prosecutor's Car Torched Amid Claims of Media Persecution

Citizens and students gathered in Valjevo, Serbia, to support prosecutor Vukašin Vujičić after his car was set on fire near his home.

I have expressed my conviction and opinion that this attack on my property occurred as a result of my involvement in a number of very serious and complex cases. Also, I have expressed to the police officers my conviction that this attack occurred in conjunction with the media persecution to which I have been exposed in the past 10 to 15 days.

Vujičić addressed the crowd, stating he had given a statement to the police and that both the prosecution and police were working to find those responsible. He expressed his conviction that the attack on his property was connected to his involvement in several complex cases. He also believes the attack was compounded by media persecution he has faced over the past 10 to 15 days.

My colleagues prosecutors and associates from the police are undertaking all measures and activities to find the perpetrator of this event.

He assured the public that he and his colleagues would continue to work conscientiously, responsibly, and in accordance with the law. Vujičić emphasized that all parties in legal proceedings, whether suspects or victims, would receive equal treatment regardless of nationality, religion, financial status, or political affiliation. He thanked supporters, including colleagues and members of the ruling party, for their backing.
