Valjevo students mark anniversary of incident, demand accountability

Students in Valjevo gathered to commemorate the one-year anniversary of an event they describe as a night when "force replaced law and silence replaced truth." The protest marks a year since the incident that has left a lasting impact on the city's residents.

Nikolina, a student from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, conveyed the sentiment of the gathering, stating that the community lost its sense of security in their own city on that fateful evening. The students are demanding accountability from all those who allegedly abused their authority, specifically mentioning the misuse of badges and batons against the city's youth on August 14, 2025.

"Valjevo does not remain silent! Valjevo remembers," declared Nikolina, emphasizing the community's resolve to seek justice and prevent similar incidents. The students' message is clear: they refuse to accept living in a city where fear of uniformed officers prevails, signaling a deep-seated desire for change and the restoration of trust between citizens and law enforcement.
