Vanguard journalist loses father at 86

Venerable Emmanuel Olorunmola Ajayi, a retired Archdeacon of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), has passed away at the age of 86. Ajayi devoted 41 years of his life to active ministry, serving in numerous dioceses throughout his career.

During his extensive service, Ajayi worked under seven bishops, contributing significantly to the church's operations and spiritual guidance. His ministry spanned various regions, impacting many communities with his pastoral care and leadership.

A notable achievement of Archdeacon Ajayi was his crucial role in translating Christian liturgy into the Ebira language. This endeavor aimed to make religious texts and services more accessible to the Ebira-speaking populace, fostering a deeper connection with their faith.

Archdeacon Ajayi passed away on June 8. His legacy includes his dedicated service to the church and his contributions to linguistic and religious accessibility.
