Vassalli Factory Revival Uncertain as Investor's Deal Faces New Delays

The future of the historic Vassalli harvester factory in Firmat, Santa Fe, hangs in the balance as a deal with investor Roberto Chinelli faces continued uncertainty. Workers have yet to receive their July salaries, and the factory's three plants remain inactive, casting a shadow over the promised reactivation.

According to a "Comunicado Nro. 2," the investor group has once again shifted timelines. Originally, a portion of the salary debt was to be settled upon the signing of commitments by third parties involved in the share transfer. Now, these commitments are expected within the next 72 business hours, with salary payments promised within 24 hours after the signing. This conditional approach has left the workforce in limbo.

A point of contention remains the return to an eight-hour workday. While an initial statement suggested a full-time return for some sectors by August 10, the latest communication indicates that debts will only be settled and activities resumed next week. Human Resources is expected to inform which areas and personnel will return to regular work starting August 18. Until then, employees are expected to continue under a reduced four-hour schedule.

This latest announcement follows a July 31 statement where Chinelli and his associates reportedly signed agreements to take exclusive control of Vassalli. That statement also mentioned conditions precedent and third-party approvals expected within five business days. The ongoing delays and conditional promises have fueled skepticism among the workers about the true progress of the takeover and the factory's revival.
