Venezuela edges Chinese Taipei for positive Women's Baseball World Cup record

Venezuela secured a narrow 2-1 victory over Chinese Taipei in their third group stage match at the Women's Baseball World Cup. This win improves their record to 2-1, positioning them second in Group Tainan.

The closely contested game saw a single run for each team until the bottom of the fifth inning. Kimberly Caicedo successfully executed a squeeze play, scoring the decisive run against the Chinese Taipei defense.

Both teams managed only three hits throughout the game. Mariangeles Durán earned the win for Venezuela, pitching five innings with five strikeouts and four walks. Yu-Pei Chen took the loss for Chinese Taipei, allowing Venezuela's two runs over four innings.

Japan currently leads Group Tainan with a perfect 3-0 record. Venezuela and the Philippines are tied with 2-1 records, with Venezuela's sole loss coming against Japan. Chinese Taipei follows at 1-1, with Cuba and Great Britain at the bottom of the group. The top three teams from each group will advance to the next round.
