Venezuela proposes Qatar as guest of honor for 2026 Tourism Fair

Venezuela has invited Qatar to be the guest of honor at the 2026 International Tourism Fair (Fitven), signaling a move to bolster bilateral tourism and economic relations. The proposal came from Venezuela's Minister of Tourism, Daniella Cabello, during a meeting with Qatar's ambassador in Caracas, Salman Nabit Mubarak Abdullah Al-Khulaifi.

Cabello highlighted Fitven as a key platform for regional tourism and trade promotion, showcasing Venezuela's diverse destinations, culture, and economic potential through tourism. She requested a virtual meeting with Saad Bin Ali Al Kharji, President of Qatar Tourism, to begin organizing the Arab nation's participation.

The initiative to strengthen cooperation, investment opportunities, and connectivity between Venezuela and Qatar gains further significance with Qatar Airways' recent decision to launch flights to Caracas starting July 22. This will mark the first direct service from a Persian Gulf airline to Venezuela and the first from the Middle East to both Caracas and Bogotá.
