Venezuela: Ruling party to march for Chávez amid opposition rallies

Venezuela's ruling United Socialist Party (PSUV) announced plans for a march Tuesday to commemorate the 72nd birthday of former President Hugo Chávez. The commemoration will proceed despite recent earthquakes that caused structural damage, according to PSUV Secretary Diosdado Cabello.

The ruling party's mobilization occurs on the second anniversary of the July 28, 2024, presidential election. The opposition, led by María Corina Machado and Vente Venezuela, has called for rallies in all 335 municipalities and a central gathering in Caracas. Supporters are urged to bring banners with election results and messages asserting their victory.
