Venezuelan Chamber Meets U.S. Congress Delegation to Boost Bilateral Trade

The Venezuelan-American Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Venamcham) hosted a strategic meeting in Caracas with a delegation from the U.S. Congress. The primary goal was to explore pathways for reintegrating Venezuela's economy into global markets, attracting foreign investment, and bolstering protections for the private sector.

The U.S. delegation was led by Congressman Brian Mast and included members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, such as representatives Randy Fine, Kat Cammack, and Jonathan Jackson. John M. Barrett, the U.S. Embassy's Chargé d'Affaires, also attended the session.

During working sessions, participants discussed mechanisms to ensure legal security, transparency, and competitiveness. These elements are considered crucial for generating the confidence international investors require in the region. Amaru Liendo, president of Venamcham, emphasized the organization's commitment to fostering economic ties between Venezuela and the United States, promoting a sustainable business environment that champions free enterprise through dialogue, innovation, and public-private alliances.

The discussions also involved the advisory team for the congressional committee, reinforcing the private sector's role as an intermediary and a bridge for commercial diplomacy between the two nations. With 75 years of apolitical and independent operation, Venamcham represents over 600 national and multinational affiliated companies in Venezuela, underscoring its dedication to economic development and business dynamism.
