Venezuelan journalist promoted to top media role in U.S. Senator Rick Scott's Florida office

Venezuelan journalist Rosa Virginia Pérez has stepped into a key role within U.S. Senator Rick Scott's communication strategy, assuming the position of State Media Director for his Florida operations. This promotion is part of a broader reorganization within the Republican senator's communications office, which includes new hires and internal advancements designed to bolster the reach of his legislative agenda and improve engagement with the state's residents.

Pérez, a veteran of Scott's team since his initial Senate term, will now oversee the state's media strategy. Her responsibilities include coordinating with both English and Spanish-speaking journalists and strengthening communication efforts targeted at Florida's Hispanic voters. Senator Scott praised Pérez's extensive experience within his office, particularly highlighting her work with the Hispanic community.

"I am especially proud to announce the well-deserved promotion of Rosa Virginia Pérez to State Media Director. Rosa has been an indispensable member of our team since my first term in the United States Senate and has played a pivotal role in communicating our work to Floridians, especially the Hispanic community of Florida," Scott stated. Pérez's career began in Venezuela, where she graduated in Social Communication from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Caracas. She previously worked for outlets like E! Entertainment Television Latinoamérica and Globovisión, earning recognition for her journalistic talent.

After moving to the United States, Pérez continued her work in political communication and engaged with Venezuelan community organizations abroad. She joined Scott's campaign team in 2018, initially serving as Deputy Hispanic Communications Director. Following his electoral victory, she joined his Senate office, holding positions such as Hispanic Press Secretary and Hispanic Communications Director, where she led strategies for Hispanic media and audiences. In her new role, Pérez will be responsible for communicating Scott's legislative work in Florida and Washington, covering initiatives on job creation, conservative policy, and his approach to Latin America.
