Venezuelan Luis Balbo Wins Italian Primavera Championship with Fiorentina

Venezuelan left-back Luis Balbo has added another trophy to his burgeoning career, winning the Primavera Championship with ACF Fiorentina.

This victory marks Balbo's second title with Fiorentina's youth squad, having previously been part of the team that secured the Coppa Italia Primavera in the 2023/24 season. The 20-year-old defender, originally from Puerto Ordaz, played 88 minutes in Fiorentina's 2-1 final win against Parma, earning a yellow card in the 65th minute.

Balbo's 2026 season has been one of significant professional growth. He debuted with Fiorentina's senior team on January 27 against Como in the Coppa Italia. His international debut came on February 19 in the Conference League against Jagiellonia, followed by his Serie A debut on April 4 against Hellas Verona. In total, he has played ten matches for the senior team, accumulating 312 minutes of playing time.

Beyond his success with the youth team and his senior debut, Balbo was also a runner-up in the Primavera Championship last season. His consistent performances have led to increased consideration for the starting lineup. Furthermore, Balbo has been recognized for his potential on the international stage, receiving call-ups to Venezuela's senior national team, La Vinotinto, under coach Oswaldo Vizcarrondo. He has participated in several friendly matches, including a start against Australia where Venezuela secured a 1-0 victory, though he was substituted due to injury.
