Hundreds of social media users in Venezuela reported receiving timely alerts on their Android smartphones moments before a significant earthquake struck the region. This has highlighted the effectiveness of Google's earthquake detection system, which leverages the vast network of Android devices worldwide.

The system offers two alert stages: 'BeAware' for weaker tremors and 'TakeAction' for stronger quakes, which overrides silent mode with a loud sound.
