Venustiano Carranza converts illegal dump into park; new space to benefit over 10,000 residents

In a significant urban renewal project, the Venustiano Carranza mayor's office in Mexico City has converted a sprawling illegal dumping ground into a vibrant public park. The site, previously measuring over 2,700 square meters, has been transformed into the new "Parque Calle 7."

This initiative represents a substantial investment of 15 million pesos, with the primary goal of enhancing the quality of life for more than 10,000 residents in the surrounding area. The park is now equipped with modern recreational facilities, including a synthetic turf soccer field, a basketball court, and a dedicated area for skating. It also boasts an outdoor gym, providing residents with opportunities for physical fitness.

Beyond sports facilities, the park offers a green oasis with a diverse range of plants, complemented by colorful mural graffiti. Community engagement is fostered through children's play areas, benches, and picnic tables, creating a welcoming environment for social interaction and relaxation. Local deputy Israel Moreno highlighted the transformation, noting that the area was once a dumping site for construction debris, trash, and even dead animals, and is now a well-lit, clean, and secure space.

The creation of Parque Calle 7 is particularly relevant given the scarcity of parks and recreational areas in the eastern part of Mexico City. This development addresses a critical need for accessible green spaces, improving the urban landscape and providing a much-needed amenity for the local population.
