Vestri loses to Qarabag, advances to face RFS in Europa Conference League qualifiers

Icelandic football club Vestri suffered a decisive 3-0 defeat against Qarabag in the second leg of their Europa Conference League qualifier. The loss, which occurred at Þróttarvöllur in Laugardal, sealed an aggregate score of 6-0 against Vestri, who had previously lost the first leg 3-0.

Qarabag established their dominance early, with Jaly Mouaddib scoring in the 6th minute after a save by Vestri's goalkeeper Marvin Darri Steinarsson. The Azerbaijani side extended their lead in the 29th minute when Pedro Bicalho capitalized on a defensive error by Vestri, scoring from just outside the penalty area.

Zakaria Sawo added a third goal for Qarabag in the 56th minute, receiving a pass over the Vestri defense and calmly finishing past the goalkeeper. Following the third goal, the match saw a decrease in intensity as Qarabag comfortably secured their progression in the competition.

Vestri will now turn their attention to their upcoming tie against RFS from Latvia. The first match is scheduled to take place in Latvia on July 23, with the return leg to be held at Þróttarvöllur on July 30.
