Veteran Actor Jiang Houren Confirms Relationship with Younger Partner; Her Past Names Surface

Veteran actor Jiang Houren, 71, has openly confirmed his relationship with his 24-year-old partner, Tong Xin.

The relationship has brought Tong Xin's past names and marital background into the spotlight. Media reports have surfaced detailing her previous names, including Chen Pin-yu, Yu Jia-jing, Chen Yi-li, and her current name, Tong Xin.

In Taiwan, name changes are regulated by law. According to numerology expert Wu Rui-ying, individuals can change their name up to three times. However, a fourth change requires specific conditions, such as having the same name as someone in the same household or a wanted criminal. The Civil Code and the Names Act govern surname changes, with specific procedures for minors and adults. Adults are generally permitted one name change after turning 18.

Tong Xin has acknowledged a previous marriage and has stated she is open to remarrying but not for the sake of marriage itself. Her past marriage, under the name Yu Jia-jing, was a brief union 12 years ago with a section chief in the county government's agriculture department.
