Veteran actor Ogogo battling stage four cancer, daughters seek medical help

Veteran Nigerian actor Taiwo Hassan, widely known as Ogogo, is facing a critical health battle with stage-four cancer. His daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, have made public appeals on Instagram, highlighting the severity of his condition and the urgent need for specialized medical care.

Please let’s rally around our beloved Sir Taiwo Hassan, who is currently facing a serious health challenge battling cancer.

Lima Taiwo shared an emotional video, stating that her father's health has significantly deteriorated and that some hospitals have refused to continue his treatment. She stressed that the family is not seeking financial donations but is desperately looking for medical professionals or facilities with experience in advanced cancer treatment who are willing to take on her father's case.

As shared by his family, they are NOT looking for money or financial support. What they urgently need is medical direction.

Stage four cancer, also known as metastatic cancer, signifies that the disease has spread from its original site to distant parts of the body. While it is the most severe stage, medical advancements mean it is not always a terminal diagnosis. Treatments like targeted therapies, immunotherapies, radiotherapy, and advanced surgical techniques can prolong survival, even when a complete cure is not possible. The focus often shifts to controlling the cancer's progression and managing symptoms.

Stage 4 cancer is indeed the most severe form of disease, but this does not give credit to the incredible advancements made in cancer medicine nearly every day.

Femi Adebayo, a fellow Nollywood actor, has amplified the call for assistance, urging Nigerians and well-wishers to help connect the Hassan family with reputable hospitals and cancer specialists. He reiterated that the primary need is medical expertise and direction, not financial aid. Adebayo emphasized the importance of finding facilities capable of reviewing Hassan's medical records and offering viable treatment options, whether in Nigeria or abroad. Hassan, 66, has had a career spanning over four decades in Yoruba cinema.
