Veteran actress Syanie Hisham laments lack of acting offers

Kuala Lumpur – Veteran actress Syanie Hisham, 52, has voiced her disappointment and sadness over the dwindling acting opportunities in the Malaysian film and drama industry. With over three decades of experience, she feels her extensive career has gone unappreciated, questioning her relevance in the current arts scene.

"I've been in this industry for over three decades, so it's truly sad when there are no acting offers," Syanie shared at a recent event. "Sometimes I wonder, isn't there anything I can do to stay relevant in the arts industry?"

She acknowledges the industry's shift towards social media popularity, where an actor's drawing power is now often judged by their follower count. "I have to accept that popularity is now measured by the number of social media followers. What can I do?" she said. "It's regrettable, but I accept that perhaps it's not my fortune yet. If it's meant to be, it won't go anywhere."

Despite the setbacks, Syanie, whose real name is Syaniza Hisham, has found peace with her situation and is exploring other avenues for income. She is currently resting at home, occasionally participating in sales events and taking orders for traditional dishes like roti jala and rendang, running small businesses to make ends meet.
