Veteran anchor Fang Nian-hua, a prominent figure at TVBS for 27 years, is reportedly included in the station's recent large-scale restructuring and layoffs. The news follows confirmation that senior anchor Wu An-chi has also left the station.

Fang, who has hosted the popular program "People in Focus" for 17 years, appeared at a new book launch event on July 26. Despite the reported changes at TVBS, she appeared healthy and noticeably thinner, having lost 19 kilograms over three years during the pandemic. She shared a reflective sentiment: "Programs have beginnings, and they certainly have ends."

When asked about the industry-wide layoffs, Fang responded with seasoned humor, offering a blank expression and suggesting reporters use their own "literary talent" to interpret the situation. She admitted to having experienced the shock of two programs being canceled simultaneously in the past. She recalled a particularly poignant moment during the final recording of a show, where a guest lawyer presented her with flowers, bringing tears to her eyes.

Fang stated that the past six months have provided her with an opportunity to process her 15-17 year interviewing career through writing her new book. She emphasized that the transition was primarily for the team's benefit. Regarding future plans, Fang remains pragmatic, stating that starting a new program depends on the company's initiative, not personal wishes. She also dismissed the idea of pursuing self-media, calling it a completely different and unfamiliar field of expertise.
