Veteran Artist Tien Lu-lu's Plight Sparks Concern, Union Seeks to Provide Aid

Veteran Taiwanese entertainer Tien Lu-lu, 68, has recently come under public scrutiny after a report revealed her difficult living situation. The artist, who has been out of the entertainment industry for many years, is reportedly living alone in Taichung and receiving low-income support.

Her plight gained widespread attention after a charity influencer, "Brother Bin Bin," disclosed that Tien had been suffering from a severe gastrointestinal illness for two weeks. The influencer reported that she was so impoverished that she resorted to cutting up old clothes to use as toilet paper. This revelation followed a recent livestream where Tien broke down in tears, angrily lashing out at online commenters who accused her of faking hardship for money.

The Performing Arts Union has expressed deep regret and sadness over Tien's situation. Union chairperson Tsao Yu-ting, who has known Tien for over 20 years, stated that the union has made efforts to arrange performance opportunities for Tien, including at least four union concerts. Tsao mentioned that Tien had previously sought financial assistance due to a sick elder, and the union had provided private aid without expecting repayment.

She vehemently defended her actions in the livestream, including smoking and caring for her dogs, stating they were her children and essential to her well-being, and that she was not begging for money.
