Veteran Turkish actor Bilge Zobu seen after long absence

Veteran Turkish actor Bilge Zobu, a familiar face from Yeşilçam cinema and the Istanbul City Theaters, has been spotted in public after a considerable time away from the spotlight. Born Mehmet Nuri Bilge Zobu in Istanbul on September 7, 1932, he is the nephew of theater actor Vasfi Rıza Zobu and the uncle of film actor Melike Zobu.

Zobu's acting journey began on the stage in 1956 with the play "Bir Evlenme" at Cep Tiyatrosu. After working at the Adana City Theater, he joined the Istanbul City Theaters in 1958. Despite retiring from the institution in 2006, he continued to take on guest roles. For 25 years, he was a consistent presence in the play "Lüküs Hayat," which began its run in the 1984-1985 season.

Beyond his extensive theater work, Zobu has also appeared in and lent his voice to numerous films and television series. His filmography includes memorable roles in classics such as "Kapıcılar Kralı," "Baba Bizi Eversene," "Ah Güzel İstanbul," "Tosun Paşa," and "Hababam Sınıfı." He also had supporting roles in several Kemal Sunal films.

Zobu has one son. His career spans decades, contributing significantly to Turkish performing arts through his diverse roles in theater, film, and television.
