Viborg beats OB 1-0 in Superliga season opener

Viborg kicked off the new Superliga season with a narrow 1-0 win against OB on Friday evening. The decisive goal came in the 58th minute from Thomas Jørgensen, who embarked on a solo run past the OB defense and the substitute goalkeeper Martin Hansen.

Despite a lively start from both sides, with each team hitting the post in the opening minutes, the match remained goalless for nearly an hour. Viborg's Bilal Brahimi and OB's Fiete Arp were particularly threatening in the first half, with OB's Arp forcing two saves from Viborg keeper Kasper Kiilerich.

OB, however, was hampered by several absences, including goalkeeper Viljar Myhra due to suspension and defender Jens Berthel Askou due to injury. Key midfielder Max Ejdum had also departed for Brøndby, and Rasmus Falk was not match-fit to start.

Despite these challenges, OB remained competitive and came close to equalizing through Jona Niemiec shortly after Jørgensen's goal. Viborg also had chances to extend their lead, but Jørgensen's solitary strike proved enough to secure the victory.
