Vice President Shettima Begins Two-Week Leave for Study and Reflection

Vice President Kashim Shettima has commenced a two-week leave, marking his first since assuming office. The leave, approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, began on Thursday, August 6. This period is designated for study, reflection, and intellectual renewal, aiming to bolster Shettima's capacity to serve the nation effectively.

The vice president will utilize this time to critically review the administration's ongoing programs and initiatives. He will also focus on deepening his understanding of emerging national and global policy issues. This preparation is particularly timely as the federal government intensifies the implementation of its "Renewed Hope Agenda."

Since taking office on May 29, 2023, Vice President Shettima has been actively involved in coordinating and supervising key government initiatives. His responsibilities have spanned economic development, food security, humanitarian affairs, digital transformation, job creation, and regional cooperation. He has also chaired the National Economic Council, facilitating discussions on economic policies and national welfare among state governors and other officials.

Beyond domestic duties, Shettima has represented President Tinubu at significant international and regional forums. In these engagements, he has advocated for Nigeria's positions on economic integration, peace and security, climate action, investment, and sustainable development.
