U.S. and Saudi Arabian forces carried out precision strikes in eastern Iraq on July 28, targeting weapons and logistics sites belonging to Iran-backed militias. The strikes were a response to more than 30 drone attacks over the preceding 72 hours, according to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).

CENTCOM stated that the targeted groups had been instructed by Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to attack U.S. forces and Saudi energy infrastructure. This joint operation represents a significant development, marking the first time the U.S. and Saudi Arabia have publicly announced coordinated military action against Iran.
