Video captures fatal highway crash that killed two-year-old girl

A devastating accident on Argentina's Pan-American Highway has claimed the life of a two-year-old girl traveling with her parents. The collision, which involved three vehicles, occurred on Saturday morning near Pacheco, heading towards Buenos Aires.

The tragedy unfolded when the family's Volkswagen Gol experienced a technical failure, forcing them to stop in one of the highway's central lanes. Video footage shows the car stationary for several seconds, with one vehicle managing to swerve around it. However, a 49-year-old man driving a Renault Captur at high speed was unable to avoid the stalled vehicle and crashed into its rear.

The impact was severe, causing the Captur to overturn and push the Gol into another lane, involving a third vehicle in the incident. Emergency services, including Autopistas del Sol, firefighters, and the Buenos Aires Provincial Police, responded to the scene, leading to a complete traffic halt for several hours. The young girl died at the scene, while her mother sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized. The girl's father and the driver of the Captur suffered minor injuries.

Authorities have launched an investigation into "culpable homicide and injuries," charging the 49-year-old Captur driver. Alcohol tests are pending for the driver. The deceased child was identified as the daughter of Juan Manuel Toloza, a trombonist for the popular tropical cumbia singer Rodrigo Tapari. In response to the family's immense grief, Tapari canceled his scheduled performances for the day and offered condolences and prayers for comfort.
