Video: Chicken truck blocks Acceso Sur

A large truck carrying chickens came to a halt across Acceso Sur after its rear axle broke while the driver attempted a U-turn. The vehicle ended up tilted across the roadway, completely blocking traffic toward Ñemby and Asunción.

The incident caused a major traffic jam from the early hours of Friday on route PY-01. Preliminary information indicated that the driver made the turn after a mechanical problem, apparently trying to avoid a more serious accident. The trailer axle then gave way, leaving the truck out of control and blocking the main road.

National Police officers were at the scene to direct traffic and divert vehicles. Heavy-duty cranes were expected to remove the damaged truck and fully clear the route.
