Markus Poom, a midfielder for the Estonian national football team, has opened the Slovak Super Liga season with a spectacular goal for his club, Trenčín. The 25-year-old scored in the 14th minute of the match against Komárno, unleashing a powerful shot from 25 meters out that found the top corner of the net.

This remarkable strike marked the very first goal of the new season in Slovakia's top flight. Poom's club, Trenčín, finished eighth in the league last season. In their opening match at home against Komárno, who finished three places lower, Trenčín started actively but conceded the first major chance to the visitors.

Despite Poom's stunning opener, Trenčín could not secure a victory. Komárno equalized in the 66th minute after capitalizing on a defensive error by the home team. Trenčín pushed for a late winner, with Poom setting up a chance for Jakub Hajovsky in the 79th minute, but the shot went over the bar. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Poom played the entire match, while teammate Dimitri Jepihhin, also an Estonian winger, was substituted in the 61st minute. Kristo Hussar, another Estonian player for Trenčín, was unavailable due to an ankle injury. Trenčín's next match is an away game against Košice.
