Video shows moments before young man's fatal plunge from barge in Guatapé

Colombian authorities are investigating the tragic death of 22-year-old Alexander Avendaño Varela, who drowned in the Guatapé reservoir after jumping from a party barge. The incident occurred during a birthday celebration on the 'Supreme' barge, which was carrying approximately 70 people.

Newly surfaced video footage appears to show Avendaño jumping into the water following a physical altercation with several individuals on board. The video reportedly depicts aggression towards Avendaño, including the removal of his pants, before he was pressured to jump into the water, despite not knowing how to swim.

While organizers 'Dj Coco' and 'Dj Sebas Martínez', along with attendees María José Caro and Salomé Uribe, have been identified by some as potentially involved, 'Dj Coco' and Caro have publicly denied any responsibility. Avendaño's sister, Eliana, stated she is unaware of the specific cause of the altercation. A TikTok video transmission involving individuals who claim to have witnessed the events is also reportedly being considered as part of the investigation.
