VIDEO: Tinubu formally presents Shettima with running mate certificate

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally presented Vice President Kashim Shettima with his certificate as running mate for the 2027 presidential election. The All Progressives Congress had confirmed Shettima on the party's ticket on July 10, ending speculation about his position.

The official presentation was captured in a video shared by the President’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Olusegun Dada. The footage shows Shettima arriving at a venue, exchanging brief words with Tinubu, and then receiving the certificate confirming his nomination.

Dada used the video to address and dismiss social media speculation that Shettima had been sidelined. "At no point was the Vice President’s place in this administration under any doubt," Dada stated. "People just create scenarios in their head and start cooking."

The ruling party expressed confidence in the Tinubu-Shettima ticket securing re-election. They have formally received their nomination forms for submission to the Independent National Electoral Commission before the deadline.
