Apostle Kassy Chukwu, Senior Special Assistant on Digital Media to the Edo State Governor, has declared that Nigerian singer Davido is banned from performing in the state for the duration of the current administration.

The declaration came amid an ongoing dispute between the singer and Governor Godwin Obaseki's aide, following comments made by Davido about Obaseki after the governor criticized Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is Davido's uncle. The conflict escalated when Davido shared what he claimed was Obaseki's WAEC result on social media and later defended the action, stating he had no reason to apologize.

Chukwu, in a video shared online, stated directly, "You have been banned from coming to Edo State to perform. We don’t want to see you in Edo again." He accused Davido of making disrespectful remarks about the governor and his family, warning that the singer would not be welcome in Edo State for the remaining years of Obaseki's term.

The aide further claimed that "Edo youths are angry" and cautioned Davido against returning, suggesting he might face a hostile reception, even at the airport. Chukwu also criticized Davido's social media post regarding Obaseki's academic record, calling the document allegedly manipulated and warning the singer against similar actions.

This public disagreement originated during the Osun governorship campaign, where Obaseki criticized Adeleke's conduct as governor. Davido's response involved sharing the alleged WAEC result, which he defended as revealing the academic background of a candidate campaigning in Osun. The singer also questioned Obaseki's decision to campaign in Osun while governing Edo. The aide's recent pronouncements have intensified the public dispute between the singer and the Edo State government.
